Deposition Preparation & Support

As a Forensic Legal Nurse Consultant, I provide medically informed analysis that strengthens case strategy, serving as a bridge between clinical facts and legal arguments. I support attorneys throughout litigation by clarifying medical issues, identifying strengths and vulnerabilities in the medical records, and preparing both counsel and expert witnesses for deposition and trial.

How I Prepare for Depositions

* Deposition Questions
I construct deposition questions that uncover critical medical-forensic facts, reveal gaps or additional sources of evidence, assess credibility, and sharpen the legal and clinical issues central to the case.

* Expert Witness Preparation
I explain the deposition process, review relevant case information and records with the expert witness, and provide structured practice answering questions so their testimony is factual, clear, confident, and aligned with the medical-forensic record.

* Demonstrative Exhibits and Visual Evidence
I develop or assist in creating visual aids—including illustrations, diagrams, charts, graphs, medical exhibits, timelines, and other demonstrative materials—that presents the clinical evidence clearly and strengthens understanding of the case.

* Review of Opposing Testimony
I review and analyze opposing expert testimony to identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and any divergence from accepted, authoritative standards of care.

Expert Witness Coordination & Trial Support

* Identification of Subject Matter Experts
I assist in identifying qualified, credible healthcare providers with the appropriate subject-matter expertise for the case and vet them for potential conflicts of interest.

* Expert Review
I organize medical records and highlight the key clinical points so the expert witness can focus on developing and conveying their opinion rather than spending time on record review.

* Liaison Role
I ensure that the attorney’s questions are conveyed to the expert accurately and that the expert’s clinical findings and opinion are translated back to the legal team in clear, precise, and understandable terms.

* Voir Dire Preparation
I assist in developing voir dire questions that help identify juror bias related to sexual assault and abuse, intimate partner violence, nonfatal strangulation, violence-related injury, and elder abuse. I also help craft questions that reveal potential bias toward crime victims or personal experiences with healthcare providers and hospitals.

* Trial Support
I organize medical evidence, chronologies, and supporting documentation into a structured trial notebook to ensure all materials are readily accessible and prepared for use in court. I also assist during trial by addressing medically related case questions, reviewing opposing testimony for inaccuracies, and supporting the presentation of exhibits and other demonstrative evidence.
